The Crescent City rules

May 6th, 2008 Wright No comments

I just got back from New Orleans, the place of my birth and the place of my college education. I can’t say enough good things about the Crescent City. It is unique and wonderful.

Is it the city’s tropical nature? Is it the music? The (thick) atmosphere? The mixing of cultures? Like any success (or disaster), the truth is that New Orleans is the miracle that it is because of many factors coming together to make a greater whole.

The city is about life. It’s a place that is all about enjoying the fellowship of people who work to live, not live to work.

WWOZ: an American treasure

This is the kind of story that makes me love NPR. Most stories about New Orleans fail to get beyond the stereotypical images of Mardi Gras, good food, corruption, poverty and a grand, but fading, history. Tonight’s ATC story about WWOZ highlights the living city, a place that continues to support a culture that is unique within the United States.
